How should i hook effects up to my guitar amp?
I have a tube guitar amp, and it has an effects send and return inputs. On my footswitch, it has a channel/effects button. does this mean that if i want to use my effects, i have to use them on my gain channel?
It could be that this switch is for changing channels only if you are not using the effects loop. But then if you are using the effects loop the switch is only for turning it on and off and not for switching channels.Try running some effects through the loop , hit the switch and see what happens. Does the switch still change channels or does it just work the effects loop? Either way this kind of set up doesn't seem very practical or versatile. If it were me I would just run my effects out front and forget about the effects loop all together. Plug the guitar into the effects chain and the effects directly into amp. If your using foot pedals then this will work out fine. If your using rack type effects then you'll have to get foot switches for them unless you run them constantly. By the way it's nice to see another tube amp user out there. That's all i've ever used in over forty years of playing. There are some decent solid state amps out there but ya just can't beat the power and pure sweet tone of a good tube amp. Hope i helped ya some , good luck to ya.
