what string gauge should I buy for my guitar?
I've had the stock strings on my Washburn d10s for about 2 months now and its sounds as if they are going dull. I was looking at two different sets of martin strings to buy but I don't have a clue what I'm looking for when it comes to strings. Not really sure what Information you need but I have reasonable hand strength and fairly hard caluses (not sure if I've spelt that right, but your finger tip hardening thing). I've also been playing for around a year ish

I've played a lot of different strings in the last 47yrs. For quite a long time now I've used the Martin phosphor bronze light gauge. The seem to sound the best on my guitar. But you may need to experiment a little and find the ones you like. They are cheap enough that you can change them often until you find what you like.

How can I "open up" to people?
I've been shy for a long time now and i'm finally starting to open up to people... it usually takes about a year or two for it to happen though
With some people, I'm comfortable around them right off the bat but with others, i feel intimidated a little bit or more afraid of what they'll think of me...
I just really want to know how to break the whole barrier that i make between me and other people...
What I've thought about its losing weight and getting a little buffer because i'm about 50 pounds over weight to boost my self confidence... along with that, what else is there that you think will help me?
Always remember that no one is better than you. Treat people with respect and show interest in them. If you let them talk about themselves, they'll think you're wonderful (people are extremely egocentric).
Lose the weight for you, if it bothers you because you believe other people are judging you for it, think again about their egocentricity. Do you care what someone looks like when you meet them...probably not, you're probably thinking, "I wonder what HE/SHE thinks of ME."
I guarantee you that 90% of the people you meet have that same thought in their heads. Human nature, we're unbelievably self-centered.
Relax and good luck dropping the weight.

How much is the custom duty for the import from the USA?
I would like to order a toy from the US. The item value is around US$105 and the shipping cost is US$25. I am living in Ontario, Canada. I don't know how much the custom duty will be. Is it gonna be expensive? Does anyone know about this? Thank you.

Is this going to make a Stratocaster sound like a Telecaster?
I'll replace the plastic pickguard with a steel one and i'll replace the neck pickup with a Tele neck pickup. Will that do anything to make it sound a lot more like a tele?
Changing the pickguard won't do much of anything to the sound. And changing a pickup won't do much either. If you want a good Tele sound you wouldn't want to use the neck pickup anyway. The way the Tele is made and the placement of the pickups along the scale length of the guitar are the main factors that give it that Tele tone. About the best you can do is to use the bridge and middle pickups on the strat and try to work the tone controls on both the amp and guitar to try and get a Tele type tone. You can change things on a guitar all you want but it's the wood , scale length , and construction method that give the guitar it's main tone and there is no way to change any of that , outside of getting a new instrument. You don't have to believe me , that's up to you, but I've been playing , teaching and working on guitars for a long long time and I'm just trying to help you save your money and not get disappointed. I don't mean to be rude but if you want that tele sound then you should consider trading for or buying one. Another thing I almost forgot to mention was that I sometimes use a Boss 7 band graphic equalizer pedal with my strat and if I set it just right I can get some pretty good Tele tones. So that's something else you may want to consider. Good luck and I hope things work out.
